Winter 2021

Winter homeschool adventures included:

- Collecting pond water to study under the microscope. We found so many cute little microbes!

-Visiting frozen waterfalls in an attempt to find more water to study under the microscope.  It was mostly all frozen, but we sure had a fun field trip adventure!

- Sledding in the mountains!

-Swabbing various surfaces (and animals), and watching the bacteria and fungi grow on agar plates! It was fascinating seeing how "Germ-y" the chickens were!

-Racing in the annual scout pinewood derby.  Blake won first place overall and was the happiest little boy!  He bragged about his first place for a solid year (and still mentions it on occasion to this day in 2023). "Mom, I can't believe I had the fastest car in the pinewood derby!"

-Farm homeschool field trips.  At this time, Blake was obsessed with chickens.  We got to visit a working farm and while the older boys were not overly enthusiastic, Blake was in chicken heaven.

- Airborn adventures (I love homeschool and the freedom to go on any field trip we want at anytime).

-Bike rides during lunch to get the wiggles out!

Collecting pond water

I teach my boys "Colors are for all humans! Anyone can have fun nails if they want!!"

Its so fun collecting fresh eggs from our very own chickens!

Wesley was in frozen waterfall heaven.  He doesn't always enjoy our field trips and outings, but he LOVED this one and begged to go back.

Who needs to visit a farm when Blake has his OWN chickens to play with?!  Look at that happy little face.

Mindfulness, spelling tests in cardboard boxes, school on the floor, and growing bacteria - this is what homeschool was all about!

Blood cells!

This little chicken "Henny" went everywhere with Blake.  Blake has always loved stuffed animals, and every few years he had a new special buddy that accompanied him everywhere.  First, it was detective pickachu.  Then Henny, and now it's a pusheen cat.
