Right before school started, our family went on a scout camping trip to Lava Hot springs. We camped on a privately owned, large parcel of land with the troop. We spent all day at the lava hot springs pool, and the evening at the actual hot springs. While at the pool I somehow managed to get sunscreen in my eyes. Normally when this happens it stings for 30 minutes, and then all is well. Unfortunately, I had a terrible reaction and my eyes felt like they were on fire for about five or six hours. I was dead to the world and was unable to do anything at the pool. After poring bottles of water into my eyes I still could not open them enough to see anything. I was miserable and the pain was excruciating. After spending most of the day at the pool, Jason took Chase tubing down the river, and I went back to camp to rest my eyes while the other two boys played with friends at the camp ground. Chase had a blast with Jason, and eventually I felt good enough to spend the evening at the hot springs.
The river ran right next to the camp ground which made for a fun spot to play in |
The hot springs were really interesting. There were about six different thermally heated pools of various temperatures, all rich in minerals. The boys had fun trying out all the different pools, and I just enjoyed getting to finally relax for the day!
