New school year!

It finally happened.  All three of my boys are in school.  I thought this moment would take so much longer to arrive, but here we are.  I'm so grateful for half day kindergarten, because I don't think my mama heart could handle all three in school full time just yet.

Wesley started fifth grade with Mrs. Stone.  She has been a huge blessing in our lives.  Wesley is intelligent, spunky, outgoing, friendly, funny, and quirky.  However, he also has a hard time sitting sit, paying attention, and tends to get easily distracted.  He thrives with certain teachers, and really struggles with others.  Mrs. Stone has a son with ADHD, and has shown Wesley so much love and compassion and understanding.  She has been so patient with us on our journey to find Wesley the right ADHD medication, and he has been excelling in her class.  He has a lot of friends and is getting good grades.  I'm so grateful for loving teachers that show so much love and understanding to kids that march to the beat of their own drum.

Chase started third grade with Mrs. Honeycutt (Wesley also had her in third grade).  I love that their Charter school puts so much time and consideration into matching each student with their teacher.  Chase is a very shy, reserved, quiet, sweet, and well behaved little guy.  He doesn't do well with loud, boisterous, or overly energetic teachers.  Mrs. Honeycutt has a similar disposition as Chase and he has been doing so well in her class.  She never yells, and shows so much kindness to her class.  Chase has many friends in his class and I have been so happy with how this year has been playing out for him.  He enjoys making cow cartoons with his best friend DJ, and loves playing soccer at recess.

Blake started Kindergarten this year and is in Mr. Matt's class.  I really struggled with where to place Blake for Kindergarten.  I loved Chase's Kindergarten teacher at our old school, and I was debating on taking Blake to a different school just so he could be in Mrs. Bell's class (yes - she is that amazing).  However, I decided it would be best (and fun for the brothers) to have them all at the same school.  While Mr. Matt has a MUCH different approach to teaching, he has been good for Blake.  He keeps order in his class, and is so invested in each child's education.  Mr. Matt sings funny songs, tells funny stories, but is also strict and does a good job at keeping rambunctious kids in line.  Even though we have had a few minor issues, Blake overall has been excelling in Kindergarten.  He is well behaved (98% of the time), a great reader, and is doing well at math.

I am so grateful for this little Charter School my boys attend.  This is our third year, and I love how tight knit the school is.  They have wonderful special classes my boys attend each week (art, think-lab/technology, science, spanish, music, PE, brain gym, and library). Each grade has its own aids, so the teacher can spend more time with the students and less time grading homework, printing assignments, and getting paperwork ready. They go on amazing field trips (Wesley alone went on five field trips last year which is unusual for most schools around here).  Everyone looks out for each other, and their International Bachelorette program has been wonderful.

I love seeing the new shoes each kid picks out.  Since they have to wear uniforms, shoes are one way they can express their own style.

Pickachu got to go with Blake on his first day of Kindergarten
