Service Project

The boys' Charter School encourages/requires all students to complete a yearly service project.  Since Wesley was in the NICU as a baby, we decided to do a NICU service project.  My mom was amazing, and helped to crochet dozens of hats, booties, and blankets.  My mom even gave us pre cut fleece for the boys to tie. I tried to ask for help with donations from our church, but apparently not many people know how to crochet anymore (or have time to do it).   I'm so grateful for my mom for all her help - we couldn't have done this project without her!  My boys did yard work and extra chores to earn money to pay back my mom for shipping costs.

Wesley and Chase were not very excited to do the project, but once they got to the hospital and felt the love from the nurses, they realized why helping others is so important.  They were able to see the NICU, and better understand the mothers and tiny babies that they were helping. The nurses were so sweet and excited to receive these donations.  The nurses treated my boys like celebrities, and even gave them slushies (the ones that are provided to the new mothers).  As we were going home Chase and Wesley both commented on how kind the nurses were, and how much they loved the slushies.
