One Sunday as we were getting ready for church the power went out. Ten...twenty...thirty minutes later it still wasn't coming back on. The power company estimated it would be out for a few hours. Normally this wouldn't be a huge deal, but it was Sunday in Utah, so everyone was texting each other wondering what to do about church. We finally got a call from a church leader announcing church was canceled that day. My family decided to go on a hike with my good friend and her three kids. We went on one of my favorite hikes, Silver Lake, and it happened to be during wildflower season. I have never been up in the mountains during wildflower season, and it was breathtaking. Absolutely amazing. I'm always in awe of these mountains. The seasons are so dramatic up here. Its amazing how nature can teach us such important lessons about seasons of life, and the importance of slowing down to appreciate this world. This was probably one of my favorite Sundays. I feel like church needs to be canceled once a month so everyone can have a nature day. This is where I often feel God's love and spirit the most.
