-I was busy trying to get ready so we could go to a local concert in the park, and apparently Wesley had been trying to get my attention, but I was so busy I didn't notice. W: "Mommy!!! I was trying to ask you a question!!" me: "I'm sorry honey, what is it?" W: "It is all messed up! I forgot what the question was!!!! It is all messed up now!!"
-We were at the doctors and an African American walked by and said something to me. Wesley says, "Mommy! What did that brown man say to you?!"
-Wesley often wants to me to pick him up, and I will let out an exaggerated moan pretending he is too heavy for me. W: "Mommy!! You can do it!! You are strong!!" And as I pick him up he proudly exclaims, "YAY!! You did it! I'm so proud!!!"
-Recently the other thing he tells me when I am holding him is, "Mommy, when I am bigger, I will hold you too, ok?"
-He is my story teller, and he loves using his arms to emphasize points in his stories, and he speaks in a very dramatic and exciting voice. The sound effects, and changes in his voice are quite comical. I will ask him a question, and he is very good at telling me a cute story. me: "Wesley, tell me what you saw at the fair!" W: "Ummm...BIG PUMPKINS!!!!" (in the biggest, cutest, most excited voice you have ever heard come from a three year old as he holds his arms way out to demonstrate how big they were) and twenty hundred green beans, and one hundred eleven squash, and fifty ten tomatoes!!!!! and SOOOOO many vegetables!!! (still said in a voice soo excited sounding, you think he was recalling a trip to Disney Land! ) Another cute thing he does is when he talks about something small he puts his fingers as close together as he can and uses the highest pitched voice he can muster from his skinny little body. "Daddy gave me a teeny-tinny, itty bitty little lizzard!!!!! He crawled on my arms, and on my head!!!" (now fake laughing hysterically) "It was soo funny!!"
-me: "Wesley, what is Chase's full name?" Wesley: "Chase Chasey-poo Burnell!!"
-We were camping in Sequoia, and while around a camp fire we were going around asking everyone what we saw that day. Wesley was really excited to see what each person was going to say, and would ask them when it was their turn, "Daddy...what did you see today? Grandma...what did you see?" and when it was Chase's turn, "Chasey-poo, what did you see?!" It is cute how he uses his nicknames too. Another common phrase is, "Bubbas!!! Don't touch that!!!" or, "No Bubba no!!"
-While eating, Wesley has to comment on everything. A typical meal might sound like this... W: "This is corn, corn is a vegetable. This is meat, meat is a dead animal. Mommy, when I eat, the food goes in my tummy, and in my blood, and my bones grow big and strong!!!"
-Wesley was coughing in the car and he said, "Mommy...I need coffee because I have a cough! It will make me feel better!" I dont know where he learned about coffee, or maybe he just made up the word...cough-y, because it sounds like medicine that might make a cough go away?
-We had some soda on the counter (we rarely drink soda, but sometimes Jason likes to get a diet soda, and will buy another one or two for me if on sale). Wesley points to the cherry one, "Is that one my soda? It is cherry flavor!! And that one is Daddy's, it is green bean flavor!"
-He will often fling he arms around me, and give me a big hug and say, "I love you sooooooo much!!!" He is a sweet little boy :-)
This picture makes me laugh...Wesley was trying to take Daisy for a walk outside, but she knows Wesley is not her master, and just laid there and didn't want to move.
Wesley has been getting into a lot of mischief lately. I dont know if he needs more attention, or what? One night he dumped all the salt and pepper out of our shaker. I told him he had to clean it up (the pepper was the paper corns that were large enough to be picked up). He would spend a long time picking them up, and would then dump them out all over again. It was a long, frustrating night!
One morning I walked into the boys' room to see this....
Apparently, Wesley wanted to make sure Chase wasn't board and decided to fill up Chase's crib with books and toys.
My sweet Wesley is a treasure hunter. It is hard to take him anywhere, because he is picking up EVERYTHING from the floor for his collection. Even if we go over to someone's home...he is scavenging their floor for pieces of paper, tiny items, and what most people consider as trash. An employee at a thrift store saw him, and made a little paper cone for him to put all his treasures in. He loved it. Sometimes he falls asleep in the car on the way home, and in his hand, clenched tight is usually all his treasures. Pretty much at any given time, you will find Wesley with some type of treasure.
A typical collection after one store. I usually have to go through his piles to make sure he didn't take anything that might be considered stealing. He plays with this stuff ALL day!!! Then, when he gets a new collection, he plays with that the next day. I am completely serious when I say he really does not play with his toys hardly at all...his day mostly consists of finding a collection, organizing it, and playing with is. I think a metal detector will be his Christmas gift in the near future!!!
Once in a while we go to a local farm where we can buy fresh produce. We bought this chard at the farm, and look how huge it is!!! Wesley was so excited to juice it! Amazing, he loves juicing almost anything, and will drink it too as long as there are some fruits in there to make the juice sweet. (notice his collection in the other hand!)
