--He LOVES cars. Toy cars, real cars, his push buggy, his little tikes cars car, and so on. It is funny because I have never enjoyed cars, but watching how much Chase enjoys playing with them makes me have a greater appreciation and fondness towards them. What makes my boys happy, makes me happy!
--He is sleeping really well. I'm sure anyone who reads my blogs remembers my posts about what a challenging sleeper he was. I just stuck with it, and after making sure I gave him the same routine before going to bed, he now sleeps amazing. He still wakes up early, but that is my only complaint. When I lay him down, he knows exactly what to do. He curls up on his left side, and reaches for his blanket, or the corner of his pillow to hold. As long as he has his pacifier, his pillow, and his comfort blanket, he is good to go. He takes good naps, and sometimes will take two. He takes longer and better naps than when he was 4 months old. He gets really cranky when it is nap time, and if he is happy one minute, and throwing a tantrum the next, all I do it put him in bed, and he goes right to sleep.
--He finally started walking about 3 weeks ago, and is doing really well. He could have been walking for months, but he was just too scared to try. Once he found out he could do it, he just wanted to run and kept falling on his face. It only took him a few days, and he is walking really well now.
--He loves our dog Daisy (I still need to do a post about that!). He thinks its funny to take food out of his mouth, and feed it to her.
--He doesn't really talk (big difference from Wesley who was a big talker). He says mama, dada, and doggie (more like da-ie). I am completely ok with that though! Wesley talks enough for the both of them! :-) He is still a great communicator in his own way. He makes cute little noises to let us know what he wants. He has made up his own signs to communicate, like pointing at what he wants, and then moving his fingers in a "gimmy gimmy" fashion. Or, if he wants to know what something is, he will point to it, and look at me and say, "uhhhh?" In a high pitch, ascending voice, and I will tell him what it is. I can ask him a question, and he will shake his head for no, or make a noise and nod his head for yes. I might try to teach him more sign language, but we will see. He also signs please if ask him to "say please!" He has the sweetest baby voice, and even though he doesn't talk a lot, he sure likes to squeal, and babble. :-)
--He has the cutest, biggest baby lips. He likes to pucker them up while talking or while 'asking me questions.' I love them!! They are so sweet!
--He has started throwing tantrums when he doesn't get his way. He will fling his head back, and lay on the floor and just cry and scream. It is kind of funny and cute actually. I am a lot more patient with him than with Wesley at the same age. I realize he is still so little, and can't communicate with us in the way he wishes he could. Hopefully we can get it under control though by the time he is an older toddler.
--He enjoys helping me with laundry, and likes to hand me the clothing from the laundry basket, and has started helping put the clothing in the dryer (until he tries to climb in and I tell him no, and the baby tantrum starts!) :-)
--He still is my sweet boy, and wants me to hold him almost all day. He puts his little arms up as far as they can reach, and he wiggles his little fingers. When I pick him up he lays his little head on my shoulders, and hugs my tight with his chubby baby hands. If he is ever sad, angry, hurt, tired, hungry, or upset, I am the first one he runs to, and he just wants to be held. He is my lover boy.
I love watching him grow and learn. I am so much more relaxed with Chase. He is only my second, but I am less pushy to make sure he reaches all his milestones in time (even though he is), and to make sure he already knows his letters, and colors, and shapes, and so on. Wesley already knew most of that stuff by 16 months, and I am just not as worried with Chase. They do have very different personalities, and Wesley was interested in learning, and needed that stimulation (and still does). With Chase, I am just enjoying having him as a baby, and I am taking it slow. No need to rush through this stage, or worry about having a toddler genius (even though every parent thinks their kid is a genius, right? lol). I read a really good article about what a kid should know by five. It stated that they need to know how to have fun, how to laugh, and how to get dirty. They need to know how to use their imagination, and how to build and explore. Most importantly, they need to know how much they are loved and wanted. Childhood zooms by so quickly, I really want to try harder to make it fun and memory filled. It is interesting how priorities change depending on situations, and personalities, and experiences. I don't even worry about Chase eating food that has touched the ground, or about him getting dirty. With Wesley I was sooo paranoid about every...little...thing. If someone at church touched his hand, I would disinfect it. If he would crawl on the ground, I would disinfect him. And so on... With Chase, I don't even think about germs to the extent I did with Wesley (he was a preemie, and that did play a big part I guess). By my third kid, I might not even want to use my cart cover. Just kidding...that will never happen, but you get the point! :-) Anyways, enough boring talk, onto the cuteness...

Look at that chunk! |
Chase kept giving all his food to Daisy, so I would take a cracker, and put it in his mouth. Well, Chase was determined to feed his dog, so he would take it out of his mouth, and give it to her anyways. :-)
The lips |
Chase loves his pasta! I got a new external flash, and I love it! I got it for a reception that I was the photographer for, and even though I dont use it a lot, it helps to brighten some of my pictures that the built in flash just can't handle.

Chase loves his rocking horse. He can get that thing really rocking too! He is a strong little boy! |
He favorite animal is an elephant. I was showing him all the animals in this book, and he kept turning the pages back to the elephant. He loves making the sound of an elephant because it involves arm movements. He sticks he little arm in the air like an elephants truck and says, "gaa!"
If you look at him and squint, he will blink and squint his eyes back at you |
