A few days after I delivered Chase I wanted to get out of the house, so I buckled my boys into the double stroller and went for a walk. It was a weird feeling looking down and seeing two little heads instead of just one. Wesley and I had gone on that very same walk only days earlier in an attempt to put me into labor, and now here I was with two little boys. I am very blessed to have these sweet little boys to call my own, but now I have to have twice the patience, and twice the love..but I also receive twice the blessings!
Chase is already 3 and a half weeks old, and time is just moving too quick. Yet, in some ways it feels like it was months ago that I had him. He really does feel like he belongs in our family. I think I am more patient this time around, and am enjoying the newborn stage a lot more this time too. I keep staring at Chase, trying to engrave his sweet little countenance into my memory, because he is getting bigger every time I look down. He is already outgrowing the newborn diapers and newborn clothing, and his little cheeks and legs are starting to get that cute baby chunk already. I feel like I need to take tons of pictures of him all the time because I don't want to miss any stage. He is such a sweet, beautiful little baby and I love him so much already. He has just the right amount of cute dark brown hair, and pretty blue eyes (we will see if they stay blue like Wesley's). He coos and makes the cutest sounds. He also likes to poo right when I take off his diaper, and a few times he has managed to poo right over the changing table onto the floor, or on me, or on my bed. Luckily, he hasn't peed on me yet, but he has peed on the blinds, and on his pack and play, and on my comforter. Wesley never was much of a squirt-er, but Chase sure is, lol. Chase still doesn't sleep for very long stretches either. After his nine o clock feeding, I put him to bed and he usually sleeps until one. Then I feed him, and he is up again at 3, and then at 5. He usually doesn't want to sleep again after that, so it is a chore to try to get his to sleep so I can rest until Wesley wakes up. I forgot how tiring the newborn stage can be...but I also remember how fast it flies by, so I am handling the lack of sleep a little better than I did with Wesley. It is still hard at times, but luckily he is a pretty good baby. He is just perfect, and I can't get enough of his cuteness. Wesley is doing well with him too, and gives him lots of kisses. He likes to touch his head or his arms and say "soft!" He often asks where the baby is if he can't see him, and he likes to watch him coo and make noises in the pack and play or the bassinet and he just laughs and laugh any time Chase makes a funny sound. He really is a good big brother. I am still trying to get Wesley to want to hold Chase, but he just isn't interested in that quite yet. The hardest part is finding time for both boys. Chase is pretty much attached to me most of the day, and I am trying hard to make sure to spend time with Wesley too. Jason has the month off, so he has helped me out a lot, and I appreciate that so much. Its hard work, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!

So I know exactly what you mean about being more patient the second time around. You have a better sense of what a baby wants and needs and what you can really do about it. I love seeing the pictures of chase. He is so sweet and it reminds me of how I felt with Leah. she was so chubby and grew out of the diapers and clothes so fast. I am so happy that Wesley likes him, it was so nice that Owen liked Leah. We will see what happens when a third is thrown in there! I am not sure what to expect from Leah, she does love her baby dolls though so that should help. Lots of love and keep those pictures coming! I love the shot of his little bum in the orange onesie! So cute!
W have decided to come down on August 29th. We will spend that weekend at Rob's grandma's and make sure to get to my mom's before her birthday on the 31st. So excited to see you and spend time with Chase!
Love,
Jennifer
