1 month old and lots of pictures

I should be cleaning, or crafting, or sleeping...but here I am blogging while the boys are sleeping.  It is a nice break from the crazies of life, and journaling helps me to focus on all the positive and good in life when sometimes it is easy to focus on the hard times.

Chase is already over a month old...where does the time go?  He is starting to smile...and I LOVE it!  Baby smiles are so pure and real.  It makes me happy when I see my kids smile! It makes the late night feedings worth it!  :-)  He still isn't sleeping for long stretches, but he is getting on a better routine. He still wakes up every few hours, which isn't too bad if I could get him to go back to sleep for a few more hours after 5am!  His internal clock seems to want to wake up at that time, and mine just wants to sleep!  I'm sooo tired. *yawn.* He also has thrush, which is super annoying.  I think it annoys me more than it does him.  I am the kind of person that has to have everything perfect, and I feel like I need to be in control of everything.  This is teaching me that life does not work that way.  I dont want my new little baby to have that yucky stuff in his mouth, but it happens.  He has been on medicine for a week, and there is no improvement.  That is the frustrating part.  It really isn't bad, and is only on the back of his tongue, but it is still there...and it bugs me! I think the medicine makes him kind of cranky too.  He has been fussing more since he has been on it...but it could be the thrush making him fussy too. Its hard not knowing what is making them hurt and cry.  However, Chase is the sweetest little thing, and I am so glad people come to earth as babies because they are so stinking cute!  :-)

Jason is going back to work after having more than a month off.  I'm not sure what I am going to do with myself.  He has been a big help, and has made everything a little easier. I remember thinking for the first few weeks, "having two kids is sooo easy!"  But then I realized it was because Jason was taking care of Wesley for me, and Chase was still in the new stage where he wasn't too needy yet.  Since then I've realized it is harder than I thought, and I know it will be a big adjustment when Jason goes back to work.  Jason also put some tile on our front porch where there was once just dirt, and he bought a nice rocking swing for our anniversary and put it on the porch.  I actually weeded my flower bed too, so now we have a nice view to look at. It is so nice, and now we can sit out in front and watch Wesley play in the yard while we swing in the shade of our porch.  I'll post a few pictures of the before, and when I get a chance I'll post the end result.

Wesley plays outside for a huge part of the day, everyday,  and gets soooo dirty. He comes in and wants to touch the baby and all his toys, and licks his hands.  It has been hard for me...a huge OCD germ paranoid mom, but I am getting a little better.  Wesley is also doing really well with Chase.  He says, "cute baby!  soft baby!" and sometimes even "beautiful baby!"  He likes to point to his cup and say "Wesley's milk" and then point to Chase's bottle if I pumped and say "baby milk!"  He also says "good night Chase" at night..sometimes even on his own. He is really sweet with him, and has never tried to hit him or hurt him.  He can get a little rough when trying to pat his head, or point to his eye, but really has surprised me, and has been really good with him.  He only gets upset when Grandma is holding the baby and not paying attention to him. I think once Jason goes back to work and when I can't give him as much attention, he might get a little more frustrated and things could change.  We will see.  Also..just because it is funny..Wesley came up to me and started poking my tummy and said, "Ewww...squishy!" and started laughing.  Lol..I guess that means I need to start exercising to get my baby bulge off!!  :-)

side note...at one month Wesley was 6 lbs, and Chase at one month was about 10 and a half pounds.  Big difference!

one of the first smiles caught on camera

Chase just sat in his chair quietly and watched us weed and get the porch cleaned up

Wesley wanted to make sure the dirt was ready for the tiles :-)

so, I am going to take a picture each month of Chase with this frog to document how much he is growing.  I put Chase in the frog's arms to make it look like the frog was holding him...but it just looks like he is choking him.  I will post the cute pictures later, but I laughed when I saw this one.

look at those sweet chunky cheeks and hair poof!

he seems so much bigger than a month old to me...maybe that is because Wesley was so small at a month?

I can't get enough of those smiles!

CUTE CUTE CUTE pictures! I especially love the one of Chase on the boppy. You will do great with them at home when Jason goes to work. I am impressed with how active you seem to be already anyway!
