Wow..life sure does move fast! I was just reading over some of my High school Journals, and it is amazing how much I have grown in such a short amount of time. Well...it seems like a short amount of time :-)
My once little sickly Wesley preemie is now a crazy, energetic, fun 18 month old toddler. He sure has developed a silly little personality. He has always been a super silly baby, and it is fun to watch his personality grow. If you are like me, and get board of long lists, and milestones, you can skip to the pictures. I know that these things are pretty boring for people other than family, lol. I'm trying to be a much better journal writer, but sometimes its just easier to write this stuff down in a blog.
So, at 18 months Wesley know all his basic shapes. He can point them out for the most part when asked. One of his favorite is a triangle, which he calls an "e-e-gal." Any time he sees one around the house, or on tv, he excitedly shouts "E-E-GAL!!!" He also knows all his body parts, and loves to point (and poke) peoples eyes. He has to show me all his animals "Eyes!" He still loves his moon, and asks me every day to go out and see it. Even if it is the tiniest sliver in the day sky, he always seems to find it. He loves to try to count. He can only count to two, but he knows the sounds of the other numbers, and when ever he sees a list of numbers he will point to them and say "nine, eight, two..." He is a super talkative little guy. A huge part of my day consists of listening to him tell me stories. I nod once in a while and say, "Oh really?" He might start to be potty trained sooner than I thought. Almost every day before he needs to go, he will point to his diaper and say, "stinkies!" Sure enough, within 10 minutes he usually will go. I have tried numerous times to put him on his potty after he tells me, but he gets distracted and just wants to run around. He knows exactly what he wants in life, and makes every effort to tell me exactly that. To be honest, it gets pretty tiring. I would say, half the day is spent trying to figure out what he wants. He will come up to me, say a word...sometimes I understand...sign "please" and point to something. I say, "show me what you want," and he sometimes will go over and show me what he wants. If I dont get it for him, let the whining begin! His favorite foods are: string cheese, mandarin oranges, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, and he still loves his baby food - any flavor (even the nasty looking ones, lol). He is obsessed with books (what kid at this age isn't really?). Every night after his bath I tell his to go get a book and give it to daddy. Most of the time he will go to his book shelve, study his books, pick one out, and go find daddy. He then gets a cup of milk (he still LOVES his milk), and we brush our teeth (which he absolutely hates). I have to pin the poor guy on the floor just to brush. Kids amaze me how fast they learn. I have to be careful because I know he is watching my every move. I love my little guy, and even though he has a temper, and wears me out, I wouldn't trade him for any thing in the world!
