Cabin Fever

Thanks to my mother-in-law,  we had the opportunity to stay in a nice little cabin near Huntington Lake and Shaver Lake up in the Sierra's.   It was a lot of fun, but a really long drive with a one year old.  He did pretty well for the most part, but it was still a challenge to keep him occupied for six hours while in the car.  We got up there Friday evening, and enjoyed dinner with Jason's mom and brother.  We ate outside on the patio, and enjoyed nature.  I knew it was going to be cold up there, but it was literally freezing!  At night the temps were in the low 40's, maybe even high 30's.  Inside the cabin it was about 50-60 degrees during the day.  Brrr!!!
On Saturday, we wanted to go for a hike.  We didn't have a backpack to put Wesley in, so we didn't want to go on a long hike.  We found a two mile hike that leads to a waterfall.  Jason carried Wesley on his shoulders part of the way, and we tried to let Wesley walk the other part.  He did ok, but just wanted to stop and touch all the plants.  Most of the hike was a gradual incline through a meadow area, but towards the end we were walking on a cliff type area that dropped off into rocks and the small river below....Not the ideal location for a one year old to walk around at, lol.  The Waterfall was beautiful though.  After coming back, (pretty much dragging Wesley along the trail) :-p, the boys went fishing, and my mother in law and I took Wesley around the "town" to see some of the little shops.  We got pretty board because there were only a few little stores, so we went back to watch the boys fish.  They were fishing at the end of the lake on a Dam, and it was a gorgeous view.  Unfortunately, they didn't catch anything, but it was still nice spending time on the lake.
Evey morning Wesley would sign Please, and say, "Moon???"  "Moon!!!!"  I seriously dont know where his obsession started, but he LOVES the moon.  Every morning he would cry and whine until we would take him to see the moon.   Jason was a good sport and would take him at night or in the early morning, when it is freezing, to see the moon.  Wesley didn't care about the cold at all.  In fact, his little teeth were chattering so hard one morning, but he still wanted to stay out and look at the moon.  Silly boy.

Pretty flowers on our hike

Stopping every 5 seconds to touch the flowers

Look at all the green bugs on the flower!
Wesley stayed on Daddy's shoulders at the end...to the left the cliff drops off into rocks

A near-perfect birthday weekend. Missed jen, rob and babies and yeah, it was cold! The pictures are great. My favorite is the shot of jason and wesley holding hands while walking on the trail.
