Last Saturday we had fun celebrating Wesley's birthday. He had a bunny/frog theme (of course) and I even got a surprise...Jason's sister, Jennifer, drove all the way down from Washington with two kids by herself to spend a few weeks with us!! So fun! On his birthday, we had a little pizza picnic at a local park, and then came home to open presents, and eat cake. I made the cake/cupcakes, and even though the cake looked like a 3rd grader made it, Wesley loved it, and that is all that matters :-) I tried really hard to plan the party around Wesley's nap schedule, and for the most part he did well. He started getting tired while eating his cake, and kept rubbing his eyes with his little fist full of frosting. That was his signal that he was done. It was a really nice day, and I can't believe its been a year. It was really more than a birthday celebration for me, it was a life celebration! A year ago today, Wesley was taken off his ventilator, and I was able to hold him for the first time! It is amazing how much he has grown! He is really a happy baby for the most part, and brings so much happiness and joy. He has the sweetest laugh, and finds the littlest things funny (as do most babies). He LOVES being outside. he can be fussy, and crying, and as soon as we step out the door, he is a happy baby. We walked around the zoo, and the aquarium this week (pictures to come) and he was pretty happy the entire day. Didn't even really sleep, just looked at everyone and everything. He talks all the time, and dances all the time. As soon as Jason or I move our head or dance, Wesley moves his head back and forth. Aweee...babies are awesome! :-)

Also, around his birthday he made a few new friends as seen in the pictures below. He screams and screams in delight when he sees his friend, and even tries to kiss him. :-)

As soon as I get ahead on my finances, I will send him a gift.

I am so happy to hear that Jennifer was able to make it down for Wesley's 1st birthday.

Such a cute little party! I love first birthdays. Even though the child has no idea what is going on, it is a wonderful way to celebrate and look back on the first year with your baby!!!
His one year photo shoot is so cute. I think he should be a model- he is so photogenic! :)
