Field trip and Easter

I had the privilege of chaparoning Chase's field trip to Red Butte Gardens last month.  Unfortunately, because the field trip was in March, most of the trees and bushes were still dormant and brown.  However, it was a very well organized and educational field trip.  His school had teachers at different stations around the gardens, and the kids got to stop and learn about nature IN nature. Its my dream field trip!! (I just wish the gardens were more colorful).  I love helping Chase's class - he always gets so excited to see me and is so happy to have me there.

Some years I get really excited about celebrating holidays and we plan lots of fun activities.  Other years I'm more burned out and we do the bare minimum.  This last Easter I was in more of a "bah humbug" mood and didn't plan much.  I wasn't even going to dye easter eggs, but Jason decided last minute to boil some eggs for the boys.  Coloring Easter eggs always ends in messes, spills,  and frustration when eggs crack, but the boys do love it. There are a lot of easter egg hunts in the Salt Lake Valley, but we decided to just have our own hunt at home.  I always set up a prize corner, and if the boys find a gold or silver egg, they get to pick a prize.  Chase always gets REALLY excited about the hunts because I usually have a lego set as a prize which is extremely motivating to Chase.
My mom sent the boys cute crocheted easter eggs

Some of our hidden easter eggs had a colored paper in them, and if the boys found one of the eggs with a paper inside, they got to pick a corresponding prize.  Silver and Gold eggs contained the paper for the biggest prizes.
