Wesley is nine!!!

Oh Wesley - words cannot describe the depth of his personality, the enormity of his caring heart, or encyclopedia of knowledge his mind possesses.  Wesley is a unique, and wonderful soul.  His mind is always trying to question, categorize, and understand the world.  He loves to read, and he loves to share the interesting facts that he often reads about. Wesley is intelligent and full of knowledge. Many teachers don't know how to handle his unique learning style and educational needs. While he struggles paying attention (which affects some of his grades), he could also teach half the subjects to his class.  He is truly an enigma! :-)    Wesley is always laughing and giggling and loves to make other people laugh. He is hyper, opinionated, silly, strong willed, and marches to the beat of his own drum.  He is also sensitive, caring, kind, and wants to bring joy and happiness to others.  Wesley has a sensitive spirit, and often cries when he sees a homeless person or someone in need.   He is a busy little guy who is learning both piano and violin, and is a member of two scouts troops.  He enjoyed his skiing class last winter, and looks forward to skiing again next winter.  Anytime we go on a hike he loves studying the ground, observing rocks and bugs, and contimplating how all the formations were created.  In his free time, he loves playing Minecraft and hanging out with his best friend Dane.

Even though he had a big friend party last year, he really wanted to have a friend party this year. Normally I try to have a big party every other year, but I agreed and told him he could invite a few friends to Boondocks for his main gift.  On his actual birthday (a few days before his party), he had a few gifts to open, a few decorations, and I got him a nice cake.  However, he was having a rough day.  He had to go to school, he didn't realize the party was his big gift, the cake wasn't the right flavor, and it didn't feel as special to him.  I felt really bad that he had a bad day, but I think his party made up for it.  We took a few of his closest friends to Boondocks where they had pizza, soda, and unlimited access to any ride they wanted for three hours, as well as $5 in arcade credits.  They all had a ton of fun, and it was one of the easiest parties I ever hosted!  Bumper boats, mini golf, race cars, laser tag, HD 3-D interactive movie, play area for the small ones, arcade games, and prizes!  The kids didn't want to leave!  It was a wonderful night celebrating a wonderful boy!

I'm so grateful for Wesley - he makes my life so much happier!

Grandma Burnell gave him an amazing birthday gift!

I bought a fun sparkler candle for Wesley's actually birthday.  However, I didn't realize it only lasted about three seconds, and this was the best picture I got.  I love Wesley's face though - such a fun reaction!
