California

The boys had a week off  school in February, so I drove down to California to see my brother bless his new baby.  As usual, I try to cram as many adventures as I can into the week.  By the end of our trip, I'm usually completely exhausted.  Juggling three kids by myself out of state is HARD...TIRING...and borderline INSANE.   However, I cherish these California trips - they are very important to me, and I love the memories we create.    Luckily the weather was pretty good.  Driving along the 15 freeway in winter can be scary.  The drive down was amazing, but on the drive up I encountered a little bit of snow and ice the last 20 minutes before we got home.  We arrived safe, but it was a pretty intense drive for a few miles.

I was able to see and cuddle with my new niece and nephew.  They are both so beautiful!

Jennifer and her family joined us at the Irvine railroad park.  I'm always looking for new places to visit in California, so I was really excited to give this place a try.  Unfortunately, despite looking sunny, it was a bit cold that day so we only stayed maybe two hours.  Despite the cold, we really enjoyed ourselves - there was something for everyone. We took a train ride around the park, Blake was able to ride a horse,  we rented water bikes, and we ended with a picnic (that my mom made for us).  I loved this place, but my boys were WILD.  They had so much built in energy, and were so excited to finally get to play with their cousins.  I can't even describe the chaos and energy my boys inflicted on the park, but I was absolutely exhausted as we headed home.  I was seriosuly questioning my sanity as to why I take my boys to so many places like this on my own.   Thankful they acted much better the rest of the week after I gave them a long lecture.

That night we headed back to Jennifer's house, and Steven made a fire in the back yard so the kids could make smores.

On Sunday my brother blessed his baby, and we hung out at his house for a few hours after.  It was a wonderful day.  That night I drove to Santa Clarita to visit with my best friend Nessa, and my other good friend from high school, Heather.  It was a great night, and I love catching up with these wonderful people.  We felt REALLY old as we were trying to take some selfies.  We didn't have cell phones in high school, and we still feel like we don't know what we are doing HA!!

Diane Tulak is one of my dearest friends, and she is always so much fun to see.  I try to visit with a few friends each time I come down, and I love when I have the opportunity to visit with Diane. She is real, and funny, and  always makes me laugh.  I'm thankful for good friends like her - even when distance separates us, we still can chat like no time has passed.

Its not a California trip without a visit to Ontario Mills with my family!

My parents and I went to Knotts Berry Farm. The weather was great, the park was empty, and we all had a great day.  Wesley loves the scary rides, and went on a few roller coasters that even my parents and I didn't want to go on.  Blake, on the other hand, was nervous to go on most of the rides and even cried on a few of the "bigger" rides (like the mine ride). Chase did great, but his shy personality had to be convinced to go on many of them.   We ended the night by having a nice dinner at Mrs. Knotts chicken dinner restaurant.  There was SOOO much food!  It was a great day!

Wesley with his cousin Beau - these two are kindred spirits

I took my boys over to Great-Grandma's house where they got to pick some oranges from her tree.  My Grandma is the best person I know - so full of love and kindness.  I'm so thankful they have a relationship with her, and get to make these wonderful memories with her.

Leaving is always the hardest part of every trip.  Everyone cries, and I feel so bad.  I grabbed this picture of my boys giving Grandma a huge hug.  As sad as it is to leave, I'm so grateful to be a part of such a loving family.  It is so hard to be so far away, but I love making these memories every time we go down to visit.
