Hunting for Topaz

Last November we took Jason's truck to Topaz Mountain and spent the afternoon digging for Topaz.  The most memorable experience was when Blake had to poop  We were out in the middle of Utah which was many, many miles from any services.  I pulled Blake's pants down (mistake one) and tried to have him squat.  He managed to poo without making a mess, but then he stood up and it just kept coming...all over his pants, undies, and legs.  Jason and Wesley were a quarter mile away up on the hill, so I was alone with Chase and Blake.  Our car was located beyond a little creek bed, so I stripped Blake down and ran to the truck with the poopy clothing in hand.   Blake was naked and covered in poop,  so I told him to stay there and I asked Chase to keep an eye on him while I ran to the car. We only had a few bottles of water, so I rinsed out the clothing the best I could, and tried to scrub them on some rocks (I felt like a pioneer).  They were all wet, and still not very clean.  I didn't have any extra clothing, so I just cleaned Blake off with baby wipes, and he got to explore the wilderness as a "free" boy.  Luckily,  not many people were out topaz hunting in November, so it was a bit easier to allow Blake to run around naked (he had a shirt) for the next few hours.  He didn't care, and I really felt like a pioneer at that point. Wesley and Jason found a good sized piece of topaz on the hill, while Chase and I found mostly small broken pieces scattered in the dirt.  Chase also got to shot the BB gun for a little while before heading home.  On the way home we stopped by a small mining town that had one tiny liquor store open.  I ran in to see if they had any clothing, and by luck they happened to have one pair of girl's pajamas in his size.  The clerk was so nice she offered to send her mom (who was there helping watch her baby while she worked) home to see if she had any clothing in Blake's size.  That was small town hospitality at it finest!  I thanked her, but I purchased the girl PJ's and Blake was nice and warm again.  What an adventure!!
