I feel slightly guilty that Wesley's birthday this year was pretty low key. He really wanted a big party, but I feel like kids don't need a big party every year. I mean, we have family parties every year, but I'm not a big fan of the giant, expensive parties where we invite all the friends over. Wesley had a huge party when he was four, so I told him he can have a big party next year. Chase is going to have a big friend party this year because he has only had family parties (which were still pretty big and nice). Anyways - the week before Wesley's birthday, his primary teachers made him this HUGE balloon display and gave him a cute beanie baby stuffed animal. Soooo fun! This kid was spoiled! Then, the Saturday before his birthday we went to a Dinosaur museum and park. It was cute, and Wesley loved hunting for gems in a giant rock cave/exhibit. After we got home, Jason set out our inflatable bounce house for the boys. Wesley and Chase bumped into each other, and Wesley hurt his finger. It was pretty crocked and swollen, so we took him to Urgent care, and sure enough - he had a bad break. What a fun Birthday gift! He was so funny at the doctor's office, and was telling everyone all about his finger, and pokemon cards, and life in general, and had everyone giggling at his funny personality. Unfortunately, his finger might need surgery if it doesn't heal right, so we are hoping his body can fix his finger on his own. The next day was his birthday, and he had to open gifts with only one hand. Wesley doesn't let stuff like that stop him though, and was as silly and crazy as ever. It was Sunday, but we didn't have church due to a temple dedication, so Wesley got to relax at home. We invited one of his good friends over that night for homemade pizza, cake, and ice cream. We then took a walk around our neighborhood and hunted for a few local geocaches. The boys loved that, so we will have to hunt for more soon! Wesley had a great birthday, despite a broken finger. His personality is so happy, and silly, and energetic. He keeps me on my toes, and there is NEVER a dull moment when Wesley is around. He brightens any room he is in, and I'm so grateful he is a part of our family.
