We've been wanting to go to an Easter Egg hunt up here in Utah, but have been scared off by all the horror stories of crazy crowds, parents pushing kids out of the way, and kids leaving sad and empty handed. We searched for one online, and found a hunt on Saturday who was raising money for the arthritis foundation. It was at the pride center in Salt lake, so we decided to give it a try. It was VERY quiet. I'm guessing it was the quietist public Easter egg hunt in all of the Salt Lake valley. It was pretty cheesy, but the boys really enjoyed it. There were only about 10 kids in all, so the boys filled up their baskets. There were games with fun prizes, and face painting, and other little activities. After the hunt, we headed over to the City Creek mall and had lunch. After the boys ate, they rushed over to the kiddie area to play. While Jason and I were finishing eating, we hear a blood curdling scream yelling "DADDY!!!!!!!" over and over and over. I walk over to see a crowd gathering around Wesley. He had jumped off a dinosaur climbing toy, and hurt his foot. He could not walk on it, so we had to kick Blake out of his stroller so Wesley could use it back to the car. He was crying and putting on a show for everyone watching. We got home, and decided to wait to see how he felt in the morning. The next morning was Easter, and Wesley still couldn't walk. Jason took him to urgent care while I took the two little ones to church. At first they didn't spot a fracture on the xray, but later that night the supervisor called, and informed us that they actually spotted a fracture in his foot. Yes, Wesley got TWO separate breaks within one week. Luckily, the specialist said it was so small that he didn't need a cast, and could wear a boot as long as he didn't run and jump on it (yaaa right). He was in a lot of pain for most of Easter. The poor guy had to army crawl during our easter egg hunt. Despite everything, the boys had a great Easter. I created a fun game where I put numbers inside special eggs, and the boys got to pick a prize from the prize table depending on the number they found. I hid 6 numbers inside eggs, and each boy found two eggs with numbers in them, so it worked out perfectly. Chase was the most excited about this special game, and was THRILLED when he won a thomas the train item. I think this game might become a new tradition! For dinner, Jason made yummy ham, and we both made various sides to go with it. I also made a yummy pizza cookie desert. It was AMAZING.

Wesley crawling to find the eggs. Our grass is nice and green now, but Easter this year was so early, our grass at the time was still coming back to life after Winter. |
