Snail for lunch?

Being a Mom has its rewards. Today we played "sticker pox."  It is very easy to play...I lay down and Wesley covers me in stickers.  It is actually relaxing because I get to lay down and watch Wesley have a lot of fun (while being nice and quiet).  However, the relaxation soon ended when sweet Chase came over and wanted to play too.  His version is slightly different than Wesley's however.  He likes to peel the stickers off Mommy and eat them.  Wesley gets upset because he carefully placed that sticker in that particular spot, and Chase moved it!  However, the game returned to normal after Chase went back to sleep.  Sometimes, it is the simple moments like this that make being a mom fun.  We also went to the splash park today with Jennifer and her kids, and had an enjoyable time.  Chase is a nervous and scared little fellow.  He does not like new people, or to try new things.  He did not want to play in the water at the park, and he didn't even like it when the kids playing would come close to him.   He likes to curl up against me as close as he can, and observe the scary world from this safe spot on Mommy.  He is not, however, scared to try new food.  In fact, in just the past two days he has opened up his culinary cuisine to include snail (uncooked and fresh form the back yard even!), and dog poop (it was green, so perhaps he though he was having a helping of veggies!?)  Well, he technically didn't eat the whole snail. The poor thing was hiding in its shell as Chase tried to gum him to death.  Chase enjoys the slime, I'm afraid.  On a few occasions he has squished poor little snails in his tiny hands.  I have come to learn that snail slime does not come off easily!  Chase is teething, and still only has his two bottom teeth.  It is amazing what that boy can eat though!!  His top teeth have been massively bulging out of him gums for some time, and look very painful.  Just today one of the top has finally seemed to have popped through his gums.  I'm pretty sure that means he will be eating stake in a few weeks.   He also can't stand having doors open, and will go around and close anything open..baby gate, pantry, bedroom doors and so on.  In fact, he crawled in the boy's room and closed the door on himself.  He was scared and started to cry.  Wesley was worried and tried to open the door for him, but couldn't because Chase was in front of the door on the inside.  Wesley was yelling, "CHASE!!!  Let me Help YOU!!!  I LOVE YOU!!!  I LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!"  It was really cute.   Chase has also learned the lovely habit of jumping on the bed from a certain little red-head who shall not be named.  I can never get mad though when I hear those sweet giggles coming from their bedroom.  I love the giggles of children.  It is definitely a huge reward of being a mom to hear my children happy and laughing.  Wesley is good at making us laugh.  His mind is constantly running on high speed.  He is fascinated with the world, and wants to know how everything works.  He has become very curious on what everything is made of....  "Mommy..what is inside a pea?"  "Mommy...what is Teriaki sauce made of??" "Mommy...what is inside my chicken nugget?"  "Mommy...who grew the carrot?  Was it on a farm?"  He is also becoming quite the smart-Alec.  W :"  Mommy...we dont say Stupid, that is a bad word."  m: "Yes, you are right, if we say that word, we go to time out. "  W ;"what about stuuu...  is that bad?"  me:" no, but we dont need to say that, it is not really a word. "  Wesley then whispers really quietly the word stupid.  Before I even say anything he says, "What!  I didn't say anything!"  Really?  How old is he?  16!!??   Sometimes I have to remind myself that he is only three, because I can get so frustrated when he acts up, and I feel like he is so much older than he really is.  He really is a character though, and I am excited (and sometimes a little scared, lol) to think about what my boys will be like in 10-20 years.  Wesley...the handsome nerd? class clown?  outgoing? Chase... the athlete?  the quiet one? the car expert?  the sweet heart?  Only time will tell, and it is fun to watch them grow.
