He is a strong little guy. If babies played football, he would probably be one of the first to sign up. He is just a solid little guy. He is not really fat (although he has plenty of baby chunk), he is just more "well built." He has recently figured out how to slide open the screen door that goes to our back yard. I dont think Wesley could do that until he was two! Now I have to keep a really good eye on him! I dont want my neighbor to have to knock on my door telling me my infant has escaped too!
He loves to give kisses, and blow kisses. It is so cute! In the morning after he wakes up, he will grab my face and put his whole mouth over my nose and say, "Muuuuuahhhhh!" He also balls his hand in a fist, opens his mouth wide, and kind of shoves his fist in and out saying "Muuahhh!" to blow kisses. As a mom, it is the cutest thing ever...as an onlooker, it is probably a slobbery mess, ha.
He loves playing patty cake, and can do most of it the actions by himself. My grandma likes to play that with him while he is sitting on her lap.
I started putting Chase in Wesley's room at night. I NEED to start getting better sleep at night. Since he goes to bed at 7:30ish, I have to put him in bed first, and then when it is Wesley's time, we have to quietly sneak in. Wesley does really well, and is good at being quiet. Chase is doing pretty well, but still wakes up 1-2 times a night (on good nights) and just can't put himself back to sleep without me coming in and giving him his pacifier. Its not a good habit, but I'm hoping he will slowly get better. I am not really getting much more sleep than when he was in my room though. I often listen to the monitor, and every little sound wakes me up. I am paranoid he will wake up Wesley, even though Wesley can sleep though a train crashing though his bedroom. I also am a little lonely. He has been my night buddy for a year, and it is a little sad to see him go. However, he still wakes up at 5:30 every morning so I still bring him in bed with me like I always have done to get a little more sleep.
Chase still loves to be cuddled, and will often just lay his head on my shoulder or chest and will sit there for a long time. It was a bit of an adjustment having a cuddly baby since I am not an inherently cuddly person. I love it though, and I do enjoy laying on the couch with him cuddled up tightly next to me. He is a sweet little guy. His favorite way to sleep is with me laying on my left side, and him laying on my left arm, facing me, with my arms wrapped tight around him. Sometimes we both wake up sweating all over each other, but for what ever reason he still loves it.
He is enjoying playing with toys more, which is nice. It gives me a little break since he is usually following me around the house crying for me to pick him up or feed him. On a few occasions he has spotted me heading towards the bathroom. He crawls towards me as fast as his chubby little legs can carry him. He then screams next to the bathroom door as if someone just pinched him as hard as they could. As soon as I pick him up, he is happy as can be.
He HATES getting his diaper or clothing changed. He kicks and screams and is all sorts of crazy.
He still doesn't say a lot of coherent words, but he does babble a lot in his sweet, high pitched baby voice.
I can't wait to celebrate his first year of life with him in a few weeks. Chase is such a sweet, cute, lovable little baby, and I am so glad he is mine forever! :-)
Up until a month ago, he was still being tightly swaddled. We stopped when he started rolling on his tummy, and wiggling like a worm crying to try to free him self.
My cute skinny hubby, and cute chunky baby! |
He also does this silly thing where he sucks his bottom lip in and out really fast. I dont know where kids come up with these things!
Look at those two cute teeth |
Another silly Chase quark is that he always has his little tongue sticking out just a tiny bit. I'm guessing when he gets more teeth he wont do it anymore, but if you look close, it is almost always there!
His eyes have turned a pretty dark blue/hazel color, but on his left eye his has a small brown spot. It would be cool if it stayed that way. I haven't been able to capture the color in most of my pictures, but you can kind of see it in this one.
This boy is seriously so happy when he eats...look at that face of pure joy!
Now that he isn't swaddled anymore, he likes to put his hands behind his head when he sleeps.
Great-Grandma loves holding Chase. :-)
Here are some more of Chase's happy eating faces. He is going to loves his cake on his birthday!
