growing up

Wesley will be two on the 20th of this month, and he sure is growing into a cute little boy.  He is becoming very verbal and good at communicating what he wants.  One of my favorite things he started saying is "Moooooommy (or Daddy)  where aaaaaare you???"  Anytime I go to the bathroom, or lock myself in the office to get a few minutes to myself, he plants himself in front of the door, sticks his little fingers under, and will ask that over and over and over until we surrender and come out.  Last night he came into the office while I was on the computer, and said "mommy hand."  I held out my hand and he grabbed it and led me to gate that blocks off the family room from the living room.  He said "go go go!"  I asked where he wanted to go, and he told me "fly kite!  blue kite!"  I have no idea where his obsession with flying kites has come from since he has never actually flown one.  I guess he has seen them on tv or in books.  Since it was dark, I told him we could make one, so I quickly cut a diamond out of construction paper, and tied a cheep ribbon to it, and he was happy 'flying' it around the family room.  He is a very busy little body, and always wants to "go go go!"  He asks me all day to go somewhere.  The problem is, that anytime I do take him out to run errands or other things, he gets board sooooo easy and wont just sit in a cart, or stay next to my side.  It is a chore taking him anywhere because I have to bring soo many snacks and toys and other things to distract him so I can shop, or whatever.  I have no idea how I will go out with a newborn and a hyper toddler!  I feel bad because he really wants to be learning and doing something all day, all the time.  I am running out of ideas and ways to entertain him.  If anyone has any easy ideas of fun activities for an almost two year old, I would love to hear them!

A few months back I posted that I wanted to make sure I was as prepared as I could be by 30 weeks in case this baby comes early.  By the time I was about 28 weeks, I had all the baby cloths washed and put away, the boy's room set up with the new crib and bedding, the birth plan written, and my bags packed.  I have a few other little things I need to do, but things are certainly falling in place.  My sweet friend offered to give me a baby shower.  I was pretty hesitant and didn't really want one because we were very blessed after we had Wesley and can re-use most of his stuff.  However, she insisted, and is focusing on diapers and other things we can still use.  I am excited, and hoping I make it to this one without going into labor first :-)  Also, my best friend is coming over this Saturday and we are painting a tree on the wall of the boy's room.  I am pretty excited.  I will post pictures of the room after we are all finished setting up.  And, as weird as this sounds, even after all my preparations, I still dont feel like I will by a mom of two next month.  I feel the baby moving, but until I see his face, it is hard to believe a real baby is in there.  Seriously...how does a full grown baby fit in there??!   I am really nervous about birth.  More than the first time I think.  That is one of the reasons I'm not in a big hurry to meet him just yet.  I really want it to be as natural as it can be, but I'm certainly not in objection to getting an epidural if I can't stand it.  I've been reading books about birth to help prepare myself a little more.   Wesley's birth was so sudden; and there was so much medical intervention that it wasn't really as peaceful or as wonderful as I imagined it could be.  I hope to be a little more involved in the whole process this time so I can make more choices for myself, instead of letting the doctors do anything to me. It will be a fun adventure to say the least!  :-)
