Some cute things from 2018
Chase:
--Chase has always loved cuddles. From the time he was a tiny infant, he has always been the child who has needed close, physical affection the most. When he was nervous or scared, his comfort was to cuddle me tightly. Even now at seven years old, he still needs to be cuddled. Often he will come up to me randomly (I might be cleaning the house, or checking email, or doing other tasks) and he will say, "Mom, can we cuddle?" Oh course sweet boy!
--He finally conquered a steep hill on his bike at the Pump and jump course. After he came up to me and said, "Mom - thanks for all your love!!! All your love gave me the courage to go down the hard hill on my bike!! Thank you!" He is the sweetest kid! He just melts my heart!
--For Christmas I told all the boys that they will be buying/getting their own gifts for their brothers. Normally I have a bunch of extra gifts that I let the boys pick out for each other, but I decided it would be more meaningful if they each acquired gifts for their brother's themselves. I told them the gifts for their brothers could be anything - a used toy from their room, a service, some candy, or they could use their own money and buy something at the dollar store or another store. My sweet Chase has been thinking hard about this and told me his ideas in private. He has decided he will provide Blake with a service. Chase wants to help Blake put together any legos he might be getting for Christmas. (Blake asked for a huge pikachu off brand lego set and there is no way Blake will actually be able to put it together). For Wesley, Chase really wants to get him some might beanz. They are a smily toy that Wesley has been wanting. Chase worked really hard selling popcorn for scouts and earned an amazing gift card. We don't know the exact amount, but it should be around $25. While putting Chase to bed he told me that he wants to take his gift card, buy himself a small lego set (the one he wants is $12), and use the rest to buy Wesley some mighty beanzs. That was such a sweet moment. I was so proud of my tender Chase, and his desire to use his own money to buy his brother something that he knows he really wants. I sure love that boy.
Wesley:
--Wesley came inside with a tiny little wild daisy he picked. He said, "Mom - I picked this for you! It reminds me of you, because daisy's are pretty!!" Awwww!!
--Wesley had some tap water and asked if he could put some concentrated lemon-lime flavoring (meant for carbonated water) into his drink. I poured some in not realizing it was meant for a big 2 L bottle. He took a few sips and said, "ewww, this is so sweet I feel like I'm drinking puppies and unicorns!!"
--Chase misplaced a special stuffed animal. Wesley has a huge heart, and always feels bad when someone else is sad. Wesley went to the computer, looked up the cost of a replacement stuffed animal, and offered to help Chase get a new one. Luckily, Chase found the lost toy a day later.
Blake:
-- We can home after spending two hours outside in freezing cold temperatures while attending a tree lighting ceremony. I gave Blake hot chocolate (the other boys wanted ice cream - go figure). While drinking it Blake said, "mmmmm - this melts my heart. This warms me and comforts my heart."
--- While making a wish at a water fountain, Blake threw in his penny and said, "I wish for Mommy to be happy!" (I wasn't sad - he just had an honest, sweet little wish for his Mommy to have happiness!)
--Blake loves to help me get ready in the morning. He loves to use the foot grinder and will spend a long time siting on my back as he gets rid of my "scratchy" heals. After he uses the grinder, he likes to cover my feet in lotion. He uses so much that my feet and legs are often left dripping in greasy white lotion. He also likes to fix my hair, put on my make up, and even paint my nails (which I usually don't let him do). One time he had me lie upside down on my bed with my hair dangling off the side and spent 20 minutes brushing it. Another time he carefully did my makeup - blush, eyeshadow all over my face, and powder. After he finished he looked at me with my brightly colored makeup covering my forehead, cheeks, and chin and said, "Mom - you can take it off now!"
--Blake will randomly say, "Mom - I care about you!" We can be watching tv, driving in the car, or sitting down to dinner and he'll look at me with that sweet smile and tell me how much he cares about me. I don't know where he heard that word used, but it sure is sweet!!
--Blake loves strawberry tea. We have loose tea and he enjoys helping me make it in our tea maker. He has a little tupperware set that he loves to use as his tea set. He will set a small plate down along with the little cups and his pitcher of tea. He asks me to put fishy crackers on each plate while he pours the tea. One day while pouring the tea he said, "have you been waiting your whole life for this?" I wanted to say, "Yes sweet boy - I HAVE been waiting my entire life to have my wonderful boy!"
--Blake is really good about telling us thank you. For our Christmas eve dinner, Blake (my one kid that normally doesn't eat dinner), actually ate some of the things on his plate. He kept saying, "Mom!! Thanks for making me this yummy drink!!" "Dad!! Thanks for making me this yummy meat!!" "Mom!! Thanks for this yummy dinner!"
--Blake recently assigned himself to be the official table setter. Each night for dinner he enjoys getting everyone their own napkin, cutlery, and he will even fill up his brother's cups with water. He gets so excited to help - its so sweet!
