Blake is two!

My sweet little Blake recently had his second birthday.  He brings so much joy and happiness to our family, and I'm grateful everyday for the blessing he is in our lives.  Wesley and Chase sure do love him, but Chase and Blake often butt heads since they are closer in age, and are interested in the exact same toys - Paw Patrol, and Vehicles.  Blake was being a pill one day, and Wesley said, "Boy, Blake can be super annoying, but he sure is loved!!" ha ha ha!  Blake has the SWEETEST smile and giggle, and fits perfectly into our crazy, wild house full of cute boys!

Some things about Blake at this age:

--if you ask him how old he is, he says, "two" while holding up all five fingers on one hand.  :-)

---He LOVES his milk, and each morning and at night he MUST have his "mi" (as he says it while signing milk in sign language."

---He LOVES to dance. Its so cute to see him bust a move when ever music comes on.

---He loves baby dolls, and stuffed animals, and loves to carry them around and take care of them.  He got a dog for Christmas that barks and moves, and he LOVES that little dog.  He loves all dogs, and likes to make a panting sound whenever he sees one.  I love his sweet, nurturing little personality.

--He loves to play dress up with Chase, and likes to "arrest" me with handcuffs.

--He used to be sooo good when I took him shopping, but recently he cries and tries to jump out of the cart.  If I let him down, he will take off.  In the past few months he's gotten lost about 4 or 5 times.  A few times I had to notify a worker to watch the doors so he didn't escape.  One Sunday he escaped from nursery.  I went to pick him up, and the leaders thought he was already picked up because he wasn't in the room.  They PANICKED, and started searching the church for him.  We had people watching for him outside, the other ward was looking for him, and I had friends get out of their cars to come back inside to look for him.  We walked all over the church, and after about 5 minutes a lady saw him walking without an adult, and held onto him until we found her.

---He doesn't talk well, but he tries.  He usually only says the first sound, so water is "waer," bath is "ba," wesley is "wwe," car is "ca," train is "choo choo," thank you is "ta,"  snack is "sna" and so on.  He calls Daddy "Na Na."  His doctor thinks he should have some speech therapy, so he is going to get evaluated at the end of the month, and if he qualifies, a speech therapist will come to our home each week to work with him.  The word he says the most is "ya."  Do you want milk? "YA!" Are you cute? "YA!!" Did you have a good birthday? "YAAA!!!"  If he is really excited, like when he gets new trains as a gift, he jumps up and down and yells, "YAAAAAYYYYY!!!"

---He has learned how to fight for what is his.  With two older brothers, life can get a bit rough, so he had learned how to defend himself and run away screaming if he has a toy his brothers want.

---I weaned him from his beloved paci in November, and it was soooo easy.  We had misplaced his entire collection of pacis, so he went a few days without any until we found them again.  He did fine, and really had no issues, so I threw most of them away, and kept a few for emergencies. He had a few colds, and I gave one to him for one or two nights to help him sleep, but thats been it!  Amazing!

---At night he loves when I read him books, or "bo" as he calls them.  Since his books are at a different level than his brothers, I like to read to Blake alone.  I  rock him in the rocking chair as I read him a few books before naps, and before he goes to ned at night.  He has his own collection of books he likes to choose from.  After that I sing to him, and he gets the BIGGEST and CUTEST smile.  He then picks a stuffed animal or toy to sleep with, and I cover him with his blanket, turn on his stars, and he usually goes right to bed.

---He does great in the car, and is still rear facing.  I would keep him rear facing until he turns three, but his car seat is about to expire, so we will switch him around soon.

---He loves to paint, and play with playdoh, and make MESSES.  Seriously, this kid is drawn to anything MESSY.  He will play in the toilet if the bathroom door is open (that has happened WAY more times than I want to admit).  He goes in my room, gets my makeup, and rubs it all over his body.  He likes to dump toys out, draw on ANYTHING he can, go in his brothers' rooms and destroy them, dump out ANY cup of water on the table, and so on.  It is exhausting!!

---He is a picky eater.  He doesn't eat dinner 5/7 nights per week.  He only eats a very few select things for lunch, and doesn't eat much breakfast either.  He lives off of protein bars, baby food pouches, yogurt, eggs, smoothies, string cheese, nuggets, bananas (sometimes), pB&J (sometimes), and crackers.  He LOVES sweets and candy, so I really have to make sure to limit those.

---He is very active, and has great gross and fine motor skills.  He can kick and throw balls better than most four years olds.  He can hold a pen correctly, which really amazes me.

--He loves to wave to people and give hugs.  He really brings sunshine everywhere he goes, and makes people happy.

---He is very friendly when I am around, but gets very shy if he is left alone without Jason or myself.  He's struggled in our church nursery, and it has taken six months for him to finally be able to stay in there without one of us.  I just got called to be the nursery leader, but I am only in there twice a month, so its nice that he can learn to be happy in there without me.

--In the morning, he loves to cuddle with me under the blanket as we watch tv and he drinks his milk.

Blake is such a sweet little boy, and it is fun watching his little personality grow.  I am so blessed to be his Mommy, and he makes this world a better place! :-)

I was so excited to take Blake's two year old pictures.  Once I get a vision of a photo shoot in my head, I HAVE to get the pictures I want, and I will keep trying until it happens!  A week before his birthday, I got Blake all ready to take his pictures.  We walked a few houses down, and Blake lasted a minute before having a melt down.  He didn't want to smile.  He didn't want to be in the snow.  He was screaming, and red, and there was snot all over.  I was pretty sad, and took him back home.  I soon realized he was crying because I hadn't put gloves on him, and his hands were freezing.  After he warmed up, I put on some gloves, and we tried it again.  Second time's a charm, because he did great.  I love these cute pictures of my sweet two year old.

On his Birthday, Jason was in Puerto Rico, so we didn't have a big celebration that day.  I made an angels food cake for him, and I gave him one gift from us - a little quad power wheel that he drove around the house all day.  :-)  He also opened gifts from my parent's that they mailed up to him.  We waited to have his little family party a couple days later when Jason flew home. We went to a cute train shop where there was a train ride that went around an old Western town while the rider shoots at targets with a gun.   It was really cute.  There were also model trains that the kids could control.  Later that night, we had some more cake - this time a cute train cake, and he opened the rest of the gifts from us.  We gave him a small trampoline that we put in our basement. (He LOVES it).  He also got some new books, and a doctor's dress up set, and a baby doll set.
