Chase-isms

You need to use your imagination, and think of Chase's cute, quiet, sweet,  hard to understand voice, when reading these things.  He is not one to say super silly, hilarious, or crazy things like Wesley was at this age.  He is just so sweet, and kind, and sincere.  The things he says are often deep, and heart felt, and things that I want to always remember.  It has only been recently, within the last year, that I have been able to understand most of what Chase says.  His speech is getting a lot better, but he still struggles with it.  The Special Ed preschool helped him a lot last year, and since he doesn't qualify anymore, we put him in a regular preschool this year (more on that later). He also goes to speech at Wesley's school once a week for 20 min.

---In the car I put in a church Primary CD.  Wesley was a little annoyed with having to listen to church music.  Chase, however, got pretty excited.  "This is music from church!! It is important to listen because it helps you with the Holy Ghost! At church, you learn about Jesus and the holy Ghost!"

---Chase and I were eating lunch outside while Wesley was in school, and Blake was taking a nap.  He is so sweet and cute, and loves to sit next to me and talk about anything from school, to nature, to life.  I told him I like eating with him, and he said as he was giving me his sweet little smile, "Me too.  I love Mommy-Chase time.  Its good to spend time with Mommy or Daddy alone, with no Wesley or Blake.

---We were playing a Monster game where I made a scary noise, and we all go running and hide and pretend there is a monster after us.  Wesley used to LOVE this game at his age (he knew it was pretend).  Chase, even when he was a baby, always took this game seriously, and got scared.  I was playing with Blake and Chase, and we ran on the couch to hide form the "monster."  Chase said, "Mommy - I don't want to play this game.  It is hurting my feelings.  It is freaking my feelings out."

---This year was Chase's first Primary Program.  The sunbeams got to come to the front to sing all their songs so the parents and audience could see them better.  During practice, Chase sang nice and loud, and knew all the words.  He sat so still and quietly, and always followed directions.  On the day of the program, Chase was very nervous to get up.  I told him he would be next to his teacher the whole time, and I tried to bribe him to get on stage.  After watching his teachers get up, he took one of their hands, and nervously got on stage.  He got up in the front when it was time to sing, but didn't sing many of the songs like he did in practice.  He would give me a cute smile once in a while, but stood so still.  He wouldn't sit in his assigned seat, but wanted to sit on his teacher's lap.  I guess she held his hand every time he went up to sing, and would kneel behind him when he was singing.  So sweet.  Near the end, he even fell asleep on her lap on stage.  :-)

--We turned off the lights, and Chase said "its Halloween time!" I played along, and said, "ohhhhh...maybe a spooky ghost pushed open that door over there!!"  He said. "nooo!  We aren't playing that game!!  Lets play the Holy Ghost game!  He's nice, and not spooky!!"
