Wesley's collections

Wesley is obsessed with Collections.  Like, weirdly obsessed.   At the park he will pile similar rocks together, in the garden he will make a pile of yellow dandy lion flowers, at the store he will pile together rubber bands and other do-dads he finds on the floor.  It doesn't matter where we are, he will find a collection to make.  He will count the items too, over and over.  It is fun for him. His collections entertain him more than any toy ever could. At Christmas, he was more excited to get a collection of .99 cent crayons than to get the nice art easel/desk.  Any time there is an assortment of similar items, Wesley takes it upon himself to collect them and sort them.   Not a single day goes by that he doesn't crate a collection out of something.  Here are only a few examples of is collections.  This was only an assortments of pictures I took over a few days....there are hundreds more that he is constantly creating.

We took all the oranges off our tree because rats were getting to them.  We put them in three big bags.  We put two of the bags near our fireplace.  Wesley took them out and organized them in piles...oranges in one, leaves in the other, and threw away the bags.

Wesley always organizes his toys.  To him, this is more fun than playing with the toys. Cars in one pile, boats in another, and so on.

found my finger nail polish, and of course had to make a collection.

The same day as the finger nail polish I walk int the office to find this...

still, later that same day, I come outside knowing I will find a collection, and sure enough....

If you look closely, there are actually four collections...1. chalk at the bottom  2. dried flowers to the left of the car  3. the rocks Wesley is working on, and  4. a pile of Lemons in the very back

Our good friend does a lot of word working and turns his scraps into wood blocks.  He gave us a HUGE bag, and Wesley LOVES the blocks.   He will occasionally build things with them, but he loves sorting them.  He makes different piles...triangles, rectangles, trapezoids, and so on...
I just realized he has a fish pile too, along with his triangle collection
After I put Wesley to bed, I took this quick picture of his block collection in the four different piles
It doesn't matter what the item is...if he can find a way to make it in a collection, he will.  This was some tissue paper that he tore up and made it into his collection.

Sometimes it does work to my advantage.  He helped me sort all the socks and his underwear from the pile of clothes I was folding today.   Sigh  :-)
