a little bit of dirt....

SO, two things....

One, I got a job! It is working as a Chemist in a lab in Riverside doing soil and water testing. I graduate Saturday the 14th, and I start on Monday! Crazy, huh? I am excited and nervous at the same time.

Two, I came back from my three day trip up north with my soil morphology class a few weeks ago, and had soooo much fun!!! Well, the last day we did a soil survey in the Mojave desert. It was over 100 degrees, and we were out there for two or three hours. That was tough, but we got through it, and I had a great time. I love working in nature. It is so peaceful and relaxing.... :)
Here is the entire class:

A pretty meadow that we did a soil survey in:

All of us observing soils on a moraine (soil deposited by a glacier)

Standing on an old moraine:

Walking down the hill:
Me counting the rings on a tree core to determine the age:

Putting up the tent :)

We were observing a soil in a meadow, but our hole kept filling with water because the water table was so high....

In a forest on the east side of the Sierra Nevadas:

Observing a salt affected soil in Owen's Valley:

My group and I determining the texture of the wet meadow soil:
